Minimal Stimulation IVF comes with lots of promises when it comes to parenthood.

IVF experts around the world believe that medical treatments that are gentle in procession, lead to controlled growth of a smaller number of eggs that allows in giving better outcomes, most probably. Emeritus Editor of IVF Lite, a Journal of Minimal Stimulation IVF and a pioneer of Minimal IVF in India and the Middle-East, Dr Gautam Allahbadia states that minimal stimulation is better for many women since it is more patient-friendly

In today’s era, a large number of women are facing the issue of fertility. It is turning into a worrying sign all across the globe. Talking about the commonly treated infertility-related conditions, lower ovarian reserve is at the foremost. Since most of the doctors and medical experts are working on finding a solution to treating low egg-count, it seems days are not long when almost 100% of patients will be medicated successfully.

In spite of the fact that In vitro fertilization (IVF) has been in its brightest age, it has not assured the ovaries of these patients produce substantial amount of eggs for the IVF procedure. Also, since these patients tend to display the same ovarian response to maximal doses of medications as they do to lesser doses, minimal stimulation IVF has emerged as a cost-effective and risk-free alternative to conventional IVF treatments.

St. Louis Infertility Center conducted a study in the year 2013, in which they found that results with IVF Lite are quite similar to those with conventional IVF. The study was undertaken due to the risks that come along with conventional IVF. The procedure comes at half the cost and no side effects. For those women having very low ovarian reserve, there were very impressive results with minimal stimulation, in fact better than those with the conventional IVF. In women with poor egg reserve, high doses of fertility drugs tend to result in abnormal egg development. Tradition IVF methods have often resulted in various negative conditions such as ovarian hyper stimulation syndrome (OHSS). OHSS can be painful and even life-threatening at times.

IVF experts around the world believe that medical treatments that are gentle in procession, lead to controlled growth of a smaller number of eggs that allows in giving better outcomes, most probably. Emeritus Editor of IVF Lite, a Journal of Minimal Stimulation IVF and a pioneer of Minimal IVF in India and the Middle-East, Dr Gautam Allahbadia Mumbai states that minimal stimulation is better for many women since it is more patient-friendly. “Minimal stimulation IVF procedure works best for women above age 37, as they tend to be lower responders and produce a crop of more euploid embryos with minimal stimulation,” he further adds.

Dr Gautam Allahbadia, who is the head of the IVF team at Millennium Medical Center (MMC IVF), Dubai, advises minimal stimulation treatment in cases of poor ovarian egg reserves, polycystic ovary syndrome, older women, women with moderate to severe endometriosis, cancer patients who are freezing eggs, and more recently women with a BMI of over 35 years of age. His advice is based on his decades of experience in Minimal Stimulation and Conventional IVF.

Dr Allahbadia is a well-respected name in the arena of Ultrasound Guided Embryo Transfers and has played an important role in promoting the use of Ultrasound in Embryo Transfer procedures. He has also contributed to the development of IVF Lite in countries like India and UAE. He has worked in various countries including India, USA, and Japan. His opinions on IVF Lite is a gift of his experience abroad. He suggests that while counselling a patient about conventional IVF versus minimal stimulation IVF, it is imperative to determine whether the patient has a low egg reserve (this would make them a poor-responder).

Every years, we are reaching newer heights in the field of assisted reproduction and IVF. The world is witnessing new scientific evidences that prove IVF Lite as a more affordable way to enjoy parenthood, particularly for select groups of patients. Additionally, it cuts down the risks of life and over injection. With all these developments and offering east access to having a baby, Minimal Stimulation seems to be the next big thing in the IVF world.
