Moving to a New House? Here are Some Super Hacks

People move for different reasons – for a course, for career, downsizing, retirement, separation, or for just a change, et al). But no matter what the reason is, a move is definitely not a walk in the park. It can be exciting or upsetting but there is a constant adjective to it – it is stressful.

So what you should do in the first place is hiring professional movers in Chicago. They will help you with the move. However, since it is your move, you should have a knowhow of how to do the things right. Thankfully these days, you have YouTube where you can find several hacks. But if you don’t have time for the same or if you have no clue about the authentic ones, here is a list compiled by me.

I have tried them out myself and have created this blog, which will surely help you.

Well, do not fold your clothes. Instead, just roll them or hang them in the dresser as they are. Your movers would take care of the rest.

If you are packing the electronics, make sure you use their original packing boxes. Also, pack and keep them together as this would prevent damage. Make sure all of them have given them enough time to cool down before putting them into cartons.

Moving is a great opportunity to get rid of things that you don’t use or you don’t want. If you have anything that you haven’t used in the past year, then toss it out. You can either make money by selling them online or else, donate them.

For packing your clothes, pull the garbage bags up over the clothes so that they don’t get crushed or ruined. When you are unpacking, all you need to do is hang the clothes back up and get rid of the bags. Trust me; this is a very easy way to pack your clothes.

And yes, do not forget to give enough importance to LABELS. Use color codes for the boxes. If you are packing your mirrors or Kitchen China in a box, then ensure you use the word “fragile” or “delicate” on the label. This way, the movers would know and they will move the boxes with care. Do not forget this step.

If your movers are bringing the packing materials for you, then nothing like it. But if not, then get some plastic bags from the local grocery stores. You can use them as fillers for delicate items. You can also use them for sealing liquid items such as lotions, face wash, toners, oil, etc. Remover the caps of the bottles, put the plastic bags and then put the caps back. This hack would save you!

Make sure that you have the floor plan ready (of your new house) and the movers have an idea of the same. Talk to your Naperville moving company so that they know which furniture would go into which room.

If some of your furniture pieces have to be disassembled, then you should keep their bolts and screws in zip-lock plastic bags. This way, you won't lose these small parts.

Use all your bags and suitcases in order to save on cartons or boxes.

When packing the plates, place them vertically so that they are less likely to break.

Necklaces and jewelry can get tangled so try using toilet papers in between them so that they are tangle-free.

Use your laundry basket to keep essential appliances such as your dishwasher or coffee maker.
